My Creative Workbook

Christine de Beer - effortless floral craftsman

Add lemony summer balance to wild “just picked these” design elements to avoid overcrowding your container.

I am filling a long (but not all that wide) container with water for my design.

Balance a lemon over the opening of the container.

Do you notice anything special about this lemon? This week in our email I tell you a bit more about creating balance. I send out an email every Wednesday morning (Vancouver time) the moment the latest design is ready for you to view with a small insight that I want to highlight in each week's inspiration design so that you can make the most of each week's learning even before seeing the design. The sign up is below this post.

Add a few more lemons to create a mechanic that will support your thin stemmed flower display.

... now the fun start! Start creating a design by placing the lemons, even stacking them or leaving a gap, in a way that is sooo.... you!

Wiggle the container a bit to make sure the lemons are balanced and will not tumble over when you start designing.

Use the gaps between the lemons as a support to place your plant material.

Keep the design light and breezy so that the grasses can bob in the slightest of summer breeze.

Add in a few stems of baby's breath...

And add in a few cosmos flowers to softly dance in the summer breeze between the lemons.

Design note: resist the temptation to over design a wild design. The lemons are placed "just so" so that the rest of the design can look more spontaneous. Let the flowers settle to look more natural.

... and as always I finish the design with a few dew drop crystals. See the Tutorial below for more detailed instructions.
