Tiny bit Grand

Because learning how to be good (really good) at your something...

... is not about memorizing facts or perfecting techniques or even winning a medal.

Learning to be really good at your something is so, so much bigger than that.

It is about learning things, yes but also about letting those things slowly percolate through how you are naturally wired to notice, interpret and be inspired so that they can shape you as much as you shape them. And filtering new concepts and trends so that not everything gets through. It’s about flavouring all you learn with a pinch of our tried and tested industry standards for what is still considered good practices and exploring design philosophies (ours and those developed by other creatives) and yes, innovation and value and meaning and absolutely yes, respect too… but it is about the act of showing up and making your something. Even if it is tiny, this week.

Mastering your craft is a grand, grand undertaking. So enormously grand that it can never be in danger or even threatened. It is just that grand.

The kind of grand that can not be rushed, for which there is no hack or short cut or prompt, and happens almost without you noticing so that how only you can design slowly unfurls while you are so diligently learning how to design.

It is all a tiny bit grand, right?
