Reed Hourglass

Detail of the Reed Hourglass

Snip a large bundle of Mikado Reeds into small sections. Glue the sections onto a large exercise ball. Once dry, deflate and remove the ball. Cut the reed ball in half. Cut two circles out of the dome sides.

Mikado Reed hourglass.

Glue the two domes back together by creating a cylinder shape "neck" with the reeds

Paint the hour glass and add bits of copper.

Paint the hourglass armature blue green to exactly match the patina on the copper coins and strips of the base of the design. Include a few copper sections throughout the design.

Every week I add a new design with related tutorials. Be sure to subscribe to receive an email notification with design inspiration.
