Orange peel spiral roses.
To make the candle holders:
Spiral cut the peel from an orange with a vegetable peeler.
Roll the peel around the candle...
So that it settles neatly in the stem end side of the peel.
To stand upright.
Design note: The fresh peel stands upright on a flat surface. If you are adding it into a design like I did make the spiral roses about a week before to dry... or replace the candle with a cinnamon stick (to keep the space for the candle round as the peel shrivels and dries) and dry them in an oven on dehydrate or low for a few hours.
I have a bit more information about the "messiness" that I want to achieve in this design in our email this week. I would love to hear what you think! You are welcome to reply to the email if you have a question or comment or say hi. If you are not yet signed up, I send out one email every Wednesday morning (Vancouver time) to let you know when the new design is ready for you to view. Each week I also discuss one newsletter exclusive tip of something that I think would help you make the most of whatever I am showing you this week. The sign up is below this post.
Did you notice the old favourite of mine... copper wire unraveled from a pot scrubber? I love using this wire. It is not only cost effective but also looks unusual in designs because it is a flat wire. It adds something really special. Book readers turn to page 37 to see more.
