Palm Bauble Lanterns

I am using a secret water source to keep the flowers hydrated.

For my design I chose small glass tubes, but you can make your own tubes with a few drinking straws. See the Tutorial below

Split a palm leaf to remove the hard middle vain

Wrap the palm leaf around the test tube

Add a second leaf to cross over the first

Add a third leaf to completely cover the test tube

Wrap the vain part of the palm leaf to secure the leaves around the test tube

Make a double knot and cut away the dangling ends

Fold the palm leaf back to open

Fold the second leaf and continue to open the test tube.

Move all the way around to expose the test tube opening

Place a small plastic ball to rest on the test tube opening

Fold the palm leaf over the ball and gather at the top

Pull the palm leaves so that it follows the rounded shape of the ball.

Pinch the leaves together

Tie the ends to secure.

Cut away the dangling ends

Split the left over strands of palm and wrap around a dowel stick to create the eye to hang the design from

Secure with a small drop of floral glue.

Make another bauble lantern...

And another bauble...

Hang the bauble lanterns to dry completely to set the shape

When dry, slip the grass bauble lanterns from the dowel

Carefully slip the ball out of the palm leaves.

The dried leaves are now set in the ball shape

Bauble lanterns ready to design with.

Hang the lanterns to dangle freely so that the silver bells can jingle in the breeze.

Fill the glass tube with water...

See the detailed Tutorial below on how I make a syringe and tube to easily fill the tiny test tubes

And add the fresh floral details
