Use two parts of powder to one part water. Stir well.
I also filled small test tubes with blue Rainbow Oasis for my A New Age Child’s Midnight Meander design because I wanted the blue to shine through the glass test tubes and even more importantly- I needed the flowers to stay exactly where I placed them and the powder was so compact that the stems were well supported.
Additional Notes:
Coloured layers: If you want to layer the wet powder and water you need to mix each coloured layer in a separate container.Scoop the first layer into your design container.Pat down to make it compact. Add the next wet layer.Repeat until your design is complete. For the top layer add about two centimeters of dry powder.Inset the stems. To top up the water:Place a spoon on top of the design, bowl facing up.Carefully run water onto the spoon (or the back of your hand) to trickle down and not disturb the layers. Or use the syringe and tube I have described in my tutorials.
Coloured water:Mix a looser mixture of equal parts of water and powder.Stir well. The water and foam mixture will separate and you will need to stir it often. For a thicker mixture use less water and for a thinner mixture use more water.
Filling a large vase: Scoop the dry powder into a vase until full. Push down with your hand.Add water slowly to allow it to compact to support the flowers later when you design. Scoop in more powder.Add more water.Continue this until the vase is full. If you add too much water let the mixture sit for a few minutes so that the water and the foam separate.Scoop out the extra water.Wipe the side of the vase clean with a soft cloth and add the flower stems.
