On my online workbook this week: A good measure of Autumn

Dear

This week's inspiration is saving a few of the brightest of autumn moments.

Every year I pick a few batches of autumn leaves… for next year. I dry them in different ways so that I get different results. For inspiration, I do the same for hydrangeas- here is a Tutorial: Drying Hydrangeas: Fast, Flat or Natural

Flat in a book, air dry for more dimensional leaves with curls and twists, and a few in silica gel for perfectly preserved brightly coloured leaves.

For this design I used flat leaves to contrast the curls in the tendrils.

All dried material can be quite hard to design with because they are so brittle and break even if you look at them in a funny way.

My tip for you this week is to… moisturize. Use the tiniest bit of hand lotion on the leaves (I use Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion for this) to make even the most brittle leaves more pliable.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
