On my online workbook this week: Why When

Dear

This week's inspiration is... just look what I found... the first multi petalled peony tulip bunch of the coming season. I am a fan! I wanted to show them off by showing off how different they look from the tulips we are used to seeing… but in a less obvious way. The petals are pretty obvious. But just look at the stigma, amazing right?

And then I needed to keep those pretty tulips from continuing to grow so that I can display them radiating out.

My tip for you this week is about diverting energy. Do you remember the pin trick? We are taught to prick the stem of a tulip to stop it from growing in your design. The “why” is that, that pin prick causes a wound and diverts the energy of the flower stem away from growing and towards healing the wound. Here we cause the wound in the stem a lot lower. The Kenzan pins create a wound and the tulip continues to heal the wound while staying exactly where I place it. The tulip will open and develop but the stem will not curve away so much that the fanned effect is lost.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
