On my online workbook this week: Tiny bit Grand
Dear
This week’s inspiration is that tiny bit of effort that makes all the difference!
My tip for you this week is about positioning the grasses in the water tube. Yes, you can simply add them into the tube and adjust that with the bamboo skewer. And it will look pretty. But to take it up a level, gather the grass, roll the ends and place it in the water tube, adjust the grass with the skewer…and then curl the grasses. This way you have control over how the grasses frame the flowers.
You will have to be gentle… but firm. If you pull too hard on the grasses they will pop out of the water tube and you will have to start over. But if you do not stretch the grass somewhat you will not be able to get a dramatic curl.
Practice how much tension the grass requires for the level of curl you want to add before placing them in the water tube. You can also place the grass in the tube and use something to pinch it in place (like a butterfly hair clip) at the opening so that you have your hands free to curl the grass. But with a little bit of practice you will be able to judge just how much tension it requires without pulling the grass out of the display. You can also use a drop of floral glue to secure the grass in place exactly how you want them.
Well worth the effort to draw attention to the delicate flowers, so give it a try!
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
