On my online workbook this week: Spring Light

Dear

This week's inspiration is... … watching everything wake up on our first warm day in May.

My tip for you this week is to match the wire to the dry roots.

Not all roots dry to the exact same dark brown. While you soak the roots to remove the dirt, take a few out to dry. Test the roots and see how they dry before setting the roots into the wreath shape. You want the wire to simply melt away from sight once the roots are dried… but you want the roots to be visible while placing them in the exact positions you want. Roots that are green when fresh… but deep brown once dried are ideal.

If you can not purchase the exact colour bark wire you need to match you can always make your own. See below for the link to the Tutorial.

Add dimension to the design by propping up some of the roots and the fibers of the bark wires with plastic wrap (great way to re-use the plastic and keep it from becoming trash) so that it sets into a raised position as the glue cures.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

This wired rope is inspired by Monkey vine that you see hanging from trees. It is strong, rough and very tough. Covering the rope with mud will add texture and it also insulate the wire from rust by creating a protective layer
