On my online workbook this week: Spare a Moment

Dear

This week's inspiration is … having lemon blossoms to spare! Our balcony lemon tree is blossoming (while loaded with fruit!) at an almost alarming rate this year. And our apartment is rather exotically perfumed with the happiest smell in the world.

My tip for you this week is (as always) I would recommend you start strong. Firstly, choose a twig that is just perfect. It should be just green enough to be pliable but still dry enough to keep it's shape. If it is too dry it will snap when you wedge it over the container. You can read more about this in my book page: 284 where I talk about manipulating stems, twigs and branches. Once in place, take a few extra minutes to make sure the twig is securely wedged over the edge of the container before moving on to the next step. Wiggle it a bit. Turn the container upside down. It’s always easier to make the effort in the beginning, even redoing this step if need be, than it will be to have to go back and fix things once you have your flowers in. It might not look like much where you add just one blossom... but it can get real frustrating if that twig keeps slipping off. And I am a firm believer in making good craftsmanship a habit. If you always make the effort you don't ever have to remind yourself to make an effort when it counts.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
