On my online workbook this week: Spacer
Dear
This week's inspiration is holding space for all that pretty drama!
My tip for you this week is setting something dramatic off with a generous amount of… nothing. Because the orchids are so dramatic, both in size and colour you need to allow the negative spaces to be equally dramatic. For me hanging more bamboo pieces would just be overwhelmingly cluttered. I like to give my flowers space to be themselves. A fun compromise is creating tiny cross-hatch spacers that adds visual interest without visual bulk. Of course you can also go the opposite way and hang a lot of bamboo stems to create a heavy design… but make it deliberate. Either a few or a lot. Minimalist or Maximalist. These orchids demand drama. Anything in the middle would just look too weak.
As always… you guys are amazing! Last week I mentioned that I am representing Canada at the Canada Blooms show and we are celebrating my book’s first birthday. Thank you so much for the kind wishes and the quick response! I have started a waiting list for both the free book adoption offer (I still have a few extra if you are interested) and meeting up to buy a book at the Toronto flower show. If you want to read more: The Effortless Floral Craftsman Book is celebrating it’s first birthday in March!
I have a few copies of the craftsmanship edition still left to send now (signed and gift wrapped) if you want to make sure to get one and will have the last few available from the beginning of March. Please order your copy today- this edition is soon to be very scarce indeed!
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
ps: I have only linked one of the new Tutorials below but there's another Tutorial for hanging the Bamboo. You will find the link below the design... as always.
