On my online workbook this week: Pouring
Dear
This week's inspiration is the sunshine outside that makes us feel like it might just be an early Spring...
My tip for you this week is about balancing the water level in the tilted container. You need the support twigs to be out of the water so that the glue does not come undone but high enough so that the twigs rest with their stem ends in the water below so that they remain hydrated. The best time to do this is when you place the container at an angle in the very beginning. Look at it from eye level to see if you will be able to add enough water in the container without it spilling out.
Once you have it just right, glue the container in place with hot glue. The reason why I do this is not only to keep the vase in place but also to protect the vases with a drop of rubbery glue so that it doesn’t get scratched. This little buffer is easy to remove by soaking the vases in warm soapy water.
Then as you build up the design and add the water tubes, test the water level again by using a skewer from one end to the other to see that the design will still be above the water level. Pour water to just below the twig level.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
