On my online workbook this week: Point Witch (or Wizard) Way
Dear
This week's inspiration is when the point is taking some time to enjoy nature.
Oh yes... I am a huge fan of rules. In my book I explain how rules set the standard of conduct and show us what is expected of us and what we can expect. I also explain how those rules can fuel our creativity. One of those rules that I consider hugely beneficial is to create designs that can be trusted not to do harm. So many designers have come up with so many innovative techniques while considering the consequences of their work.
For this design the benefit that comes from using a bendable wire frame to shape the hat is countered by the negative of having a wire frame sitting on your head. You have to take extra care to protect the wearer from any sharp edges. One way is to bend the pointy ends in on themselves. The next layer is to add a bit of comfort by adding a drop of rubbery hot glue over those ends.
And if you want to really have fun designing you take your designs from do no harm up to comfortable... and then level up again when you add a touch of luxury . Why not line the brim of your hat with a luxurious satin ribbon? Now the hat feels soft and... well fancy.
The easiest way is to use double sided tape all around the inside of the brim. And then press the ribbon over that. It also creates an extra cushioning layer between the wire, foliage and your head. Similar to this: Create a comfortable wrist Corsage bracelet
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
