On my online workbook this week: Picked up some proper Pruning
Dear
This week's inspiration is … the highlight of my week: our blossom trees being pruned in the meditation garden next to our apartment.
My tip for you this week is how to adjust the support if your composite flower is not quite like mine.
If the composite flower you are placing in the opening of the vase is heavier than what I am showing in the design this week double up the tape.
I wanted the petals to be like freshly mowed lawn… flat, barely sticking out above the rim of the glass container so I placed my tape on the inside of the vase, sticky side up. This way the composite flower is secured to the tape, which is secured to the glass but it will sag ever so slightly under the weight to sink into the container. If the composite flower is heavier- for instance if you add flowers to the design add tape first to the inside (like I did in the Tutorial) and then another layer over that but this time outside of the container. This way the flower will still drop into the container slightly under the weight but it will not be torn away if it is too heavy. If need be you can glue the composite to the tape.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
ps: the sticky tape technique is also a great way to suspend a slightly too small composite flower in a container with a wider opening. Simply give it a sticky tape support and fill in the petals by gluing in a collar around the outside edge.
