On my online workbook this week: Kinda Corny

Dear

This week's inspiration is ever so slightly overthinking corn.

My tip for you this week is all about gluing those husks. Both surfaces are uneven and you can easily waste precious minutes trying to match the glue bit to the other bit getting frustrated. The easiest way is to place dots of hot glue in a row, down a vertical line on the wire (instead of on the husk) and then press the husk to the wire by placing it over the glue line. It makes it easier to get good contact between the two uneven surfaces so that it remains secure. Also it gives the glue a second to cool and you now use so little glue that it won't discolour the husk where it is in contact with the heat. The other benefit is probably the most important. Having just glue dots makes it easier to slip another section of husk below the first to stack like roof tiles to make sure the wire is completely covered without it being smoothed down like wall paper. The ear of corn needs to look puffy and natural.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
