On my online workbook this week: It’s the most… it’s the most... Jingle Patina Christmas of all!

Dear

This week's inspiration is a … dropping hints.

Because everyone knows this is the time when Santa is busy checking the list twice and looking for inspiration.

My tip for you this week is about dropping a hint in your design as well. I love a design that makes you lean in closer and ask “is that a…?”

It creates an instant connection between the work and the onlooker. For this I often add just a hint of something.

My secret weapon in winter designing? Wool. Knit it, weave it, wrap it and yes, even fluff it out to be as light as snow.

Wool also instantly creates a warm and cozy feel for your design. Not just feel (with touch) but we also associate it with warmth. Exactly what we want to add to warm winter wishes, right?

In this design I wanted the outline of the twig star to have a green glow without it actually being green. So I used a fluffy glow of green wool to tie the bells and glued a fluffed out wool frame all around the star outline for emphasis.

It’s a great way to introduce a colour to a design, less obvious than paint or even moss but interesting enough to make you lean in closer for a better look.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

I mentioned a few week's ago that I received a notification that my book's price is going to increase. I have decided to delay this increase for just a bit longer from my side. The price will, however, automatically go up in some places but hopefully if you shop around you will still find it at the old price for a little while longer. For more information about my book: The Effortless Floral Craftsman

There is still time for you to win a copy of my book The Effortless Floral Craftsman in the latest edition of the The Flower Arranger Magazine See page 36 of the Winter issue.
