On my online workbook this week: For the love of those little gasps of unexpected wonder

Dear

This week’s inspiration is… sharing what I love to do most in the way I love to share it.

My design note for you this week is about placing the tiny arctic bells. Yes, they are daffodils so make sure you condition them in their own water (for 4-6 hours in a cool dark place so that they open slowly in your design, in the light) to let the stem clogging sap bleed out before adding them to the design with other plant material.

Once they are ready to add it can be really tricky to position them just so. The tiny bells face the way they want. Unlike bigger daffodils you can not really “clock” these fragile and tiny stems to adjust them. My advice is to informally insert the flower into the design and let it find the way it wants to face. It will twist into a position. Not yet the position you want.

This will then give you the inspiration for how you can design with the tiny bells allowing them to face the way they naturally want to but in the place and position you want them to.

I also found that it is convenient to place the flowers close to the tendrils of the Passiflora to get just a bit of added support and lift ( see the pictures above) where needed.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
ps: Have a fun and flower filled Valentine's Day, flower buddies!
