On my online workbook this week: A Very Merry… all elf pass into Santa’s workshop… ‘tis Christmas Day!

Dear

This week's inspiration is... oh yes I am currently happily contemplating the world through chilled window panes remembering where we've been, where we’re going, and who we are.⁣ Mostly wishing for snow. Exactly the feeling I wanted to capture with my design!

… and my tip for you on this Christmas Day? Adding a bit of lean-in-closer design magic to your design. A little something that suspends belief. And not just for Christmas designs. Designing a little bit of intrigue into your work is a great way of adding interest and catching attention without making bold statements in an already overly loud world.

This week I did this with a little bit of support to give the bow a lift. It is the tiniest of tiny details but it makes a huge difference. Slightly lifting the bark bow (that you expect to be heavy) from the design table makes the design look unexpectedly light and airy… and uplifting. A bit more magical, really. And absolutely yes, our eyes pick up on details like that.

Cut a small twig for a support. Load the twig with hot glue and slip the twig behind the leg of the bark bow to lift it away from the container. Support the bark strip on the table in the position you want it while the glue sets (see the picture above) so that it hovers just above the display surface. Once set, remove the support and the bark will float like it is suspended in time… a magical Christmas moment.

Enjoy!

Every good wish for a Merry Christmas, Flower buddies,

Christine
