On my online workbook this week: A lesson in letting be

Dear

This week's inspiration is the delicate art of learning to accept things as they are.

I still remember when I balanced a vase on its side like this for a delicate design to include in my book. I was so excited and immediately wanted to tell you all about it. Of course I also wanted to keep it a secret so that my book is filled with as many as possible pretty surprises for you. This particular surprise I revealed in my book promotions and this week I show you how to, again, level it up. If you are still learning, try the book design first ( here is a link ) but if you are in the mood for a fun challenge… here’s one for you. Take your time. Once it is up, it is fairly secure though. So secure that I could turn it around on my design table to take pictures without spilling the water.

My tip for you this week is to get to know your containers. Yes, we are craftsmen. That means we know our tools and equipment really well. But look beyond the obvious (shape, style personality…) That tiny little lip on the vase can be used to hook a flower over or the ridge at the bottom can be used to keep a design element from rolling away. The better you get at what you do the finer you can get into details. Noticing potential sets your work apart. Be curious. You never know how what you find will inspire you.

Bonus tip: if you just can’t find that place in the bottom of the vase for the stem to kick against add a tiny glass marble or pebble to the water and let the stem kick against that. Yes it is a slight visual distraction but you won’t get so frustrated because it is too difficult that you give up entirely.

And that is really the point. Challenge yourself just enough that you remain excited about what you are doing.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

Here is a link if you want to download your copy of the FREE booklet with 17 of my most popular design templates that I have used here on My Creative Workbook. Some of the templates were also used to create something pretty in my book but all the Tutorials are here on My Creative Workbook for you to start designing even if you do not have a copy of the book.
