Dear

This week's inspiration is the seemingly bare beauty of winter.

The contorted hazel twig reminded me of an ancient and wise bonsai tree. It definitely has a story of its own to tell. I wanted to capture that in my design.

All it needed was to be aged with a beard of lichen and moss. And I couldn't resist adding a lighter touch of fragrant paper white snowflakes to swing gently on its bare winter branches in the chilly breeze.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

Trend Alert

Many designers found a No Candle amendment in their design contracts received from catering venues and hiring companies this year. It is not only because of the fire hazard they present but also due to the time consuming process and large expense of removing wax drips from linen, floors and fixtures. Looks like Flickering LED battery operated "candles" will be well worth looking into for 2012. I am often tempted to add candle light to a competition design but am way to nervous leaving it flickering unattended.

It's Orange, but with a hint of red. Pantone announced it's colour for 2012 will be Tangerine Tango. The floral world is already buzzing with excitement because we have such a wide variety of orange flowers to choose from. Happy-orange also transcends all seasons so the trend is likely to be visible right up to winter 2012. Is this the year for a Tangerine Tango Christmas tree?
