On my online workbook this week: Well, well, well, if it isn’t the design solution I have been procrasti-crafting on
Dear
This week's inspiration is threading some Paper Flowers ... and I thought… wait that could also work for this!
Be mindful of how the rosette fits together though. When positioning the foliage into the rosette make sure it is not too far apart… creating a curve that becomes too top heavy to keep the orchid stem in place and not too squished together spoiling the rosette shape. The idea is to place them… just right. Easier said than done when the leaves keep moving while you continue to design!
Here is my tip for you this week: when the rosette is in the exact position you want it nestled in together, cut all the stems straight. See the picture above. Whenever you add something or adjust something in the design simply look at the stem ends to see if they are still the exact same length which means they are still nestled together like you wanted it. And if needed adjust the leaves by tugging and twisting on the stem ends so that they line up again.
Floral materials are always at risk of being bruised or damaged when you over handle them. This way you handle only the most robust part of the leaves (the stems) and you can get the rosette… just so, so that it looks perfectly fresh in your design.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
