On my online workbook this week: To grow a patch of grass of our very own

Dear

This week's inspiration is... today! Today is officially the first day of our growing season here in Vancouver… the frost risk is hopefully over and my seedlings are hardening off… It is all round gorgeous outside.

My tip for you this week is more about growing inside… how to avoid mold growing on your wheatgrass patch.

I placed my grass container on a huge plastic storage container lid (you can also use a tray or grow it next to your basin in the kitchen) so that I can grow it, and water it, wherever I prefer without any concern of water spills. This way I can place the grass wherever I have dappled sunlight during the day and water it right there. Run water to soak the grass from the top down and then let it drain away completely, twice a day. The grass should be wet but never stand in water. Simply pour out the water in the storage container lid whenever convenient.

To make it easier to maintain the design rest the design on a display container but do not fix it on. It should be easy to remove. Add the easter eggs only to the wreath part of the design- if… (or only place enough eggs to be eaten in a day) but if there are eggs left over when it’s time to water, simply lift the grass part out, rinse in water, let it drain and place it back.

You will also need a separate water source to keep the flowers hydrated. Place the floral details in their own little water tube. If this tube is nestled deeply into the roots it will snugly fit exactly where you place it and the flowers will remain hydrated even as the water drains away from the grass.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
