On my online workbook this week: The way I see it

Dear

This week’s inspiration is probably not saving the world… but… in my tiny, tiny corner I can make (our, I hope!) Wednesdays way more beautiful.

This week’s tip is about grooming flower stems so that they look like floral butterflies, gently resting on the larger composite hydrangea leaf-flower. It is well worth the effort to cut away, and yes, even sacrifice some of the lower flowers to create the longest and most elegant stems possible to add into the design. Then, like you would with a jig saw puzzle, find and fit the stems into the gaps matching the perfect angled stem with the perfect gap between the leaves. Thread the stem through the gap, right down into the water and give it a twist in the direction where the flowers fit best. The stems will be held up and in place by the hydrangeas but the flowers should flutter effortlessly.

I truly believe in creating beauty and comfort for my design elements. If something looks squished and scrunched into a design it creates a stifling (and depressing, right?) look. We can feel it when we look at a design and some of the flowers are uncomfortable. This is especially important when you craft summer designs. Give the flowers a bit of space to hover, move and dance!

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

Ps: I am amazed how well this week’s design held up even in the above average temperatures in my sun baked design room. if you are looking for heatwave summer design inspiration- this is it, flower buddies.
