On my online workbook this week: The Upside of being Inside

Dear

This week's inspiration is … enjoying the comfy days of late winter inside.

My newsletter tip for you this week is about the finer details of twig snippet placements. As soon as you know how you want to place your armature to display it start paying extra attention to how you glue in the twigs. As floral designers we always mimic flourishing nature.Think of how plants look when they grow. This just helps you complete the “healthy plants grow this way” illusion when creating contemporary armatures. Make sure the stem tips point up, with the thicker stem ends at the bottom. Also where possible, when using dried material make sure the entire design has a general “up” growth. This prevents your design from looking strained and wilted. (Side note: this even goes for generally downwards facing bouquets such as cascading bouquets. Make sure the tips of the flowers point up or the greenery points slightly up. Anything small you can include that creates a strong growth line prevents the design from looking droopy and wilted).

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
