On my online workbook this week: Take a bough… it’s Christmas time!
Dear
This week's inspiration is… feeling all glowy and warm and fuzzy as I sit here in my design room, watching the snow gently fall outside.
My tip for you is to add a generous amount of wood glue to the wool wire if you want the design to stand upright. Without the glue the wool covered wires wobble about and have nothing stable to adhere to. It will simply move around the wire if you glue the wool to the wool when you try to pick it up. The wood glue dries clear to stiffen the wool, fixing it to the wire in a way that it still looks fluffy but it is actually a solid, hard surface.
Simply add snow to the sections you want to be snow covered and then extra glue to the sections you know you will need to stiffen up a bit where it will be glued to the next candy cane. Focus on adding a generous amount of glue on the twig side of the wool though so that the front side (facing the plastic on the design surface) remains as neat as possible. But no need to stress if glue runs through to the front- that can easily be cut away or concealed with extra snow. Focus on the back for strength though.
The twigs and the glue you add to the back of the design will help keep the shape but if you prepare the wool in this way, right from the start, you will cut down on frustration once designing.
Enjoy!
With kind thoughts and all good wishes for a Merry Berry Kalanchoe Christmas,
Christine
