On my online workbook this week: Sticktoitness that gets you Unstuck

Dear

This week’s inspiration is all about sticking and becoming unstuck.

My tip for you this week is a finer detail to take note of when designing with sticky tape. Designing with the sticky side up of the tape is a lot more unforgiving than doing it the more traditional way, with the sticky side down. Everything gets stuck instantly and it is really difficult to keep the design looking neat! If you are a beginner try it first with the sticky side down so that you do not become frustrated. Once you are confident that you can place the tape, try it with the sticky side up.

First things first, place all the strips leaving the difficult corner pieces for last. They are harder to get neat so make sure you practice a few times before placing the tape sticky side up.

Next… you really only get one shot, maybe two to place the tape. Placing the tape and lifting it again could lift the entire grid with it (at worst) and you have to start over. If you can carefully remove it you still run the risk of the tape showing marks and ruining the “invisibleness” of the tape grid. The best bet is to lift the tape high. Pull it as tight as you can without pulling it from the opposite side. Lower it taught (with no looseness or slack) over the container and lower it slowly into position before securing it.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
