On my online workbook this week: Spring Tray-ning

Dear

This week's inspiration is my favourite flavour of messy… dropped blossom petals blowing everywhere.

My tip for you this week is about designing so that the pussy willow catkins are evenly spread out throughout the basket.

When you inspect the stem you will see soft silver tufts of opened catkins towards the lower end of the branches and tiny unopened buds towards the top tip end. What you want for the basket is buds and opened catkins throughout.

An easy work around for this is to match the stems tip to end with their neighbour so that you have catkins next to buds. Every time you place a weaker twig tip follow it up by placing a sturdier branch next to it all throughout the basket.

An added bonus when doing this is that you have a pliable stem to weave around with and a sturdier stem to give it strength everywhere giving you more flexibility to manipulate the shape of the design. Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
