On my online workbook this week: Plan Together

Dear

This week's inspiration is... stuffing.

I used pillow stuffing as a base for my design. It is ideal for wicking moisture, fights off bacteria, prevents mold and mildew growth on the shallow surface. And can be reused again and again. Choose either polyester... or maybe rather wool if you want to be able to dye it as well.

Using a fiber layer in the bottom of a shallow container is great when you want the stems to “kick” against something to keep them in place. It is also helpful if you want to move the design at some point and don’t want the water to spill out. The tiny fibers catch and keep the stems exactly where you want them, even at an angle.

Make sure the stem is in contact with water though. If the stems are above the water it will shrink and lift out above the wet fiber.

The best way to do this is to press the stem down into the fiber layer when placing it and nestle in between the twig and the surface. It is ideal if the stem curves slightly, especially the younger stems that are pliable to press them into the water lined fiber from above.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
