On my online workbook this week: It’s a snap (and a fun snap) so snap to it

Dear

My inspiration is how plants are just starting to curve and spill in the shimmering sunlight that is so unique this time of year.

My design note for you this week is about that one sticking out, gently draping grass that gives our design height. Make sure the grasses you choose to fold at a sharp angle are well hydrated to keep it from breaking. But the grass we are using to give the design some extra height? Make sure that one is dry. A dry blade of grass (preserve the colour by drying it in the microwave or in silica gel, I show you How-To do both in my book. But to get you started you can also hang it upside down. You want to dry it out of sunlight to retain as much of the chlorophyll as possible) holds the curve much better than a single fresh grass will.

Of course you also have to make sure not to place the dry grass in the water to prevent it from rotting. Simply glue the one dried grass to the side of the container (see the pictures above) with hot glue, placing it exactly how you want it, and then allowing the fresh grasses to spill and dangle freely.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

Snap (don’t break) then support the snap with a snap (squeezed open) to craft a straight grass shimmer line

Turn your dragon into a floral design mechanic by gently squeezing the sides of the floret, to open the hinged, lip-like petals and pinch the grass before releasing it to snap shut again.
