On my online workbook this week: Here comes the sun...
Dear
This week's inspiration is the gorgeousness of all that budding potential.
My tip for you is all about measuring where to cut the stems. A twig bends differently at different places. Closer to the tip is a lot more pliable than close to the thicker stem end. Test your first twig to see what angle bend you want in the twigs and then match the stem thickness at that spot to the next twig rather than the length. Cut each twig so that this bend falls just there where it makes a turn inside the container to kick gently in place. The angle of these stems are more important to the overall restful look of design than any other element. Some stems will be longer than others, that’s quite alright so long as they bend at the same angle inside the container. I am a firm believer in not underestimating the people who look at your work. Our eyes pick up on these tiny details even though we can’t always pinpoint exactly what it is that made the difference. By removing any deviation and visual distractions you clean up the design so that your eye rests on the only thing left… the gorgeous green buds and sprouting leaves.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
