On my online workbook this week: Found it!

Dear

This week's inspiration is finding with what you work.

My tip for you this week… step 1: this design needs you to be sure footed. Everything relies on those first twigs staying exactly where you place them right from the beginning. There is no going back. And if it goes wrong you will struggle… all… the… way.

Take your time in the beginning- you can have fun the moment the thorn branches are settled. Clean your container until it is squeaky clean and squeaky dry. If there is even a drop of water the glue will pop off and you will struggle for the rest of the design. The benefit of using hot glue is that it makes cleaning up so easy because it simply peels off when soaked in water but while designing it needs to be kept dry.

Pick the thorn branches so that you are sure they point in the direction and in the way you want them. Then place them so that they already sit snugly on the container. Then glue them in with hot glue. Glue in every single touch point between a branch and the container. Even go so far as to glue the branch to the branch if that will add to the branch being secure. Once those branches are secure… and I mean you can pick up (see inspiration picture above) the container by the branch… you can have fun with the tulips. The flowers will anyway rearrange themselves over time. But the branches not only keep everything upright it also sets the dramatic tone.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

ps: Workshop update: Okay… honestly I did not know there are so many devices and so many ways that we are using to look at videos online! Just… wow. We have been working hard to untangle everything and convert each and every tiny video (hint: you know me… loads!) to make sure everyone will be able to view them in whatever way you prefer… and it is taking a bit longer than anticipated. But happy to report we are back on track.

To quote the Grinch… that’s what these tests are for.
