On my online workbook this week: Don’t get me started on the things you can craft with just one pretty stick!?!

Dear

This week’s inspiration is things are starting to look up... when looking up. I am starting to notice a few buds appearing, how about you?

My design note for you this week is using the kind of magic we all instantly understand to give your design personality.

Exactly like a cartoonist can change the whole personality of a character simply by tilting, for instance, her hat you can borrow this interpretation to tilt the personality of your stick frog.

Imagine for a second… s hat pushed forward making the character look bold or mischievous. Tilted back, they suddenly seem relaxed or dreamy. Lean it to one side (my favourite angle for designs) and they become playful, curious, a bit lighthearted… and pushed… just… a… bit… too far… a little eccentric. It’s the smallest shift or tilt, even just a few degrees of angle tells us the viewer exactly who this character is before they say a single word.

So when adding your stick armature… see it as a character. What personality am I showing here? Then use the angle of a stem or the direction of a twig line to reveal the mood of a design.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
