On my online workbook this week: bonfire

Dear

This week's inspiration is our slow start to the autumn colours this year... and then all of a sudden this weekend it all burst into the brightest celebration of colours!

My tip for you this week is working with the end result in mind... right from the start.

Every design detail in this design says: ”yes, but have you seen those ruffled petals?”

The way the rose hips are curved and then woven from out… to in, inside the vase. Mimics the way the petals unfurl.

The way the dried vine winds around again over the roses... to mimic the way the petals unfurl.

Squint your eyes when you look at the design and you will see it shapes a giant rose slowly unfurling… then bursting open with colour.

Very much like autumn… Come to think about it.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

ps: To dry the ruffled vines:

Cut a few fresh vines (I used jasmine, they are extra delicate when dry) to place in a vase so that they slowly mature and dry. As the water evaporate from the vase the stem slowly contorts and shrivels into the most interesting ruffles.

Perfect for creepy end of season designing when you "need" a supply of spiderweb delicate black vines.
