On my online workbook this week: All Out
Dear
This week's inspiration is the courage it takes to make art that heals.
Even in horrible times we need pretty things to hold on to. Maybe more so. It is what I do. It is what I have always done. I have to. I have dedicated my life to master the art of making pretty things. Because in my experience floral art heals. For good people who are doing the hard work it carries with it not the kind of shame and guilt that serves no other purpose but to overwhelm but instead reminds us that we have a responsibility. It brings people together, and starts conversations and can even speak the exact right words that we wish we were able to express in just the right way. Flowers are that powerful.
And so I share my new Design and Tutorial with you- with love, as always.
My tip for you this week is about weaving the supporting stems. Make sure you work from the toughest side of the stem to the more pliable tip side. This way the stem is less likely to snap and you get a sturdy framework to weave around the flower stems right from the start. And even if the new growth wilts (at the tips- just pinch it out if it bothers) you are not relying on them to carry any weight and will still have the support and the elegant lines of the more developed stems to carry the weight of the flowers.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
