On my online workbook this week: A bit Special... four dimensional designing

This week's inspiration is the It, it does.

My tip for you this week is to position the gravity sensitive flower buds in such a way that the flowers open with the most fantastic natural curves. Negative geotropic bending happens when some cut flowers (like lisianthus) are placed horizontally causing the flower pedicels to curve up against gravity after a few days while those arranged vertically remain perfectly upright. When you strategically place the flowers it creates a great contrast without you needing to manipulate the flower in any way.

And then… and I can’t believe I am even saying this… the year is heading “that way” and I want to make sure if you want one you get it in time. Yes, I am talking about Christmas… and I have news about the special, partially handmade craftsmanship edition of my book.

These special craftsmanship edition books are crafted (and then bound with the highest quality Smyth binding sewn using the kind of vintage contraption that looks like it quite possibly adds magic of its own) by a small team of specialist bookbinders that still make books in the traditional way! Old-world-book-beautiful rarely found anymore… and with good reason. It takes days to complete a single book. That unfortunately makes it impractical for these small independent binders to supply all the online retailers with the amount of my books they require worldwide- but for designers like us who appreciate this kind of craftsmanship it is a special almost never find!

Because they are so labour intensive to make, I only ever have a few books to share at a time. Honestly not enough to even mention on my shop page. But I am so excited that for the first time in what feels like forever I have a few more, and I want to give you guys the first option to order your signed copy with a small gift from my design room to yours.

The craftsmanship edition of the book usually sells for a bit more than the artist quality book sold online but I thought after the year we had a bit less than might be just what we need. And anyway I missed gift wrapping books for you!
