On my online workbook this week: Turns Out
Dear
This week’s inspiration is how weird it is that some design ideas feel complicated but you figure it out in minutes… and then some feel simple but you struggle and struggle to get it just right.
Our design note this week is a simple solution but not an obvious one. The band needs to fit snugly inside the vase. Rolling it on the outside is easier but it means it will be too big to snugly fit inside and shaping it inside the vase is difficult because it keeps slipping.
Instead turn the container on its side when you first create the leaf band. This way you can roll the foliage while holding it tightly inside the container to follow the contours. Use the natural lip on the container as a guide so that you create a neat and even band. Secure it with a bit of floral glue where it overlaps before removing it from the container to finish weaving the band for an even tighter fit. Easy peasy.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
