On my online workbook this week: To design to our point
Dear
This week's inspiration is... just because the design took you a long time to make (the fun part!) in no way means it should take you just as long to clean up afterwards (the yucky part).
Firstly, line your working surface when you design. It makes cleaning up so much easier. I use a shower curtain for larger projects and a plastic bag that can be reused for smaller ones in my design room. When done, simply roll up the liner loosely into a tube. Tip the tube into your compost bin and let the plant material slide down the tube. It also protects your staging surface from stains that might take all your design time (and creative energy) to clean up. So line first.
But for tiny bits of debris like this you might have to pick some up to tidy after designing. Do not wipe. More often than not this crushes the plant material and you will be stuck with a green smear across your surface. Here’s my trick: Get a large shallow container. Fill it with cold water. Dip your fingers (see the pictures above) in the water. Lightly brush over the tiny leaves and stems. They will cling to your wet fingers. Dip your fingers in the water and swish… the debris will stay behind in the water. Clean in no time!
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
