The International Association of Horticultural Producers are redesigning protocol regarding to when a new breed of flower will be considered a new variety. Under the new act Essentially Derived Varieties breeders will also be required to, in addition to applying for breeders rights, get permission from the owner of the parent variety, before marketing the new variety.
