Dear

This week’s inspiration is tradition. It is probably the last place we can freely look for inspiration.

Copyright issues have been in the news lately. Not just SOPA or ACTA (which are at the outer limit of copy right control) but it is also being discussed by anyone who creates. In fact it is the question I am most asked: Aren’t you scared someone will steal what you are doing?

Wedding Business Success (UK) invited me to write an article discussing: Steeling yourself against stealing of creativity.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine

Trend Alert

Unexpected single splash of colour. It is a trend that started in the bridal industry: You would glimpse a hint of bright blue every time a bride’s shoes peak from under her traditional white dress, and you soon discover her bright blue shoes matches the groom’s socks. Or a purple bouquet would have a single yellow blossom. If you decide to incorporate this trend make it meaningful. Everyone will notice and ask about it because this carefully styled single splash of colour is getting and keeping all the attention.

Unexpected materials mixed in unexpected ways. It started with the search for unusual plant material to add a touch of distinction to designs, think orchid roots or how popular kyogi paper has become in floral art designs. We have gone through the pod and seed phase, done the minimalist tight bud thing and we are now moving through the root stage. What’s next? Stamens and pistils and floral material deconstructed and used as design elements on its own rather than as part of a composite.

How about you?

What is happening in your floral world?
