If you are in the flower industry you will hear a lot about the iconic floral designer Constance Spry in the next few weeks. She opened her first flower shop in London in 1926 at age 42 and she has been an inspiration to us ever since. I always think of her advice to allow some space between the flowers "to leave room for the butterflies". The reason for the renewed interest in her life and work is the play"Storm in a Flower Vase" at the Arts Theatre in the West End in London, England (from now until Saturday, 12th October) based on the book 'The Surprising Life of Constance Spry' by Sue Shephard .

Florists are eagerly watching the effect on the market as Amazon quietly launches its own flower shop.
