On my online workbook this week: here’s the catch
Dear
This week's inspiration is those random acts of support within creative communities.
The flowerheads are supported by the delicate looking vine net to sit neatly in the vase- exactly where I want them. While the vine is pretty robust and can carry quite a bit of weight (and easily a lighter flower like an orchid) it is safer to give even the support a bit of support when it comes to heavier flower heads. Fortunately this is possible without it distracting in the least from the concept! If possible let the flowers lean on something else, for instance cut the stem so that it also stands on the bottom of the vase while resting lightly on the net, the petal of the next flower can then lean on this flower or even rim of the vase taking just a bit, even if not all of the weight.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
ps: oooh... and another thing... weaving these vines can get rather frustrating! The vine catches on its own leaves making it tricky to weave with without damaging the plant. Make sure to thread it through one vine heart at a time and slowly so that you don’t rip off any of the beautiful leaves. Let the leaf hook over to catch on the support stem before moving on to the next. For longer vines I also found it easier to bundle the vine up (instead of letting the length of the vine dangle) and weave it through all at once in a bundle to release just enough to bundle again to go over the next support vine. One. Heart. At. A. Time.
