On my online workbook this week: Have yourself a Merry Cellulose Fibre Christmas: wired snowball pom pom for a woven grass Christmas tree
Dear
This week's inspiration is... it's Christmas!
Let’s see… we will need: Here you go… a smile (there’s a button above my design if you want to send me a smile back)
Some love shared (and as a bunch we really do love all things flowers don’t we? So also love sharing… done!)
A fun little gift, made with care (I will post a small surprise Christmas wish for you on Christmas morning about this time… if you are in the mood to open something pretty. )
Happy wishes (see my note below and you can also reply to this email if you want to personally connect with me)
… and lastly and I firmly believe this to be the magic ingredient: a bit of effort. Making an effort. Not so much that it leaves you depleted but also not so little that you are bored or unfulfilled but just a little more than you have to. So in the effort to make an effort I have not just one… but two Tutorials to share with you this week.
Because I firmly believe that you will find anything you attempt to do instantly becomes more fun if you just make a bit of an effort.
These few things truly make a wonderful Christmas, don’t you agree?
My tip for you this week is to invest your energy into effort that lasts. Even if you are scaling your Christmas celebrations way down this year you probably want to do at least something pretty. But many of you mentioned that you are also feeling a bit less energetic than usual. For me making design details that I can enjoy the entire Christmas Season is the way to go. Design once- enjoy for weeks!
Here is the secret to make this week’s design last: Measure out the average grass length that you have to weave with so that the grasses are taller than the armature. Then weave all the grass stems so that the tips point up, with the sturdier grass end standing firmly in the water below in the display container. This way the grass can remain hydrated and the design will last well past the Christmas Season. Every blade of grass is woven in from the top to the bottom. I do this because it is easier to weave with the harder end part of the grass. Then once the blade reaches to where it will be below the water I let the tip end dangle freely so that I can curl that into a festive looking design.
A Very Merry Christmas to you, flower friend.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
