On my online workbook this week: everything in one

Dear

This week's inspiration is the simple beauty of imperfection.

My tip for you this week is to add a buffer behind the foliage or stems when you thread them. Something like a rubbery eraser held at the back of foliage makes it easier to spear without ripping the foliage. And I do find an eraser to be perfect. It is tiny and can be wiggled into any position without damaging your plant material to create a perfect buffer. Press the thorn or wire or twig (whatever you are using to spear the foliage) nice and deep into the eraser and then pull the eraser away (but keep it absolutely straight so that you do not break the thorn off in the eraser) to help guide the sharp point all the way through the foliage. This also prevents the thorn from pricking you… quite painful when using perfect-for-designing-but-wow-I-see-where-it-gets-it-name firethorns as natural spears or pegs.

… also having a great quality eraser in your tool box comes in handy if you ever need to clean up any plant/muddy smears on your design surface (or wall… it happens!) by simply erasing it with a good clean eraser. Works brilliantly.

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
