On my online workbook this week: Eggsactly… just like this
Dear
This week's inspiration is enjoying a perfect moment. The vine will continue to grow… the flowers will fade, petals will drop and others will open. The chocolate eggs will undoubtedly need to be replaced as soon as they are found in their hiding place. Giving you a perfect moment after a perfect moment after a perfect moment… all from one single design.
My tip for you this week is about capturing something perfect in wonderfully natural and wild designs… by arranging deliberately.
When designing something that looks like it was just plucked from the garden and brought in make sure you add a thoughtful detail that ties all the design elements together. This way you keep the design from looking messy or even sloppy by using our design knowledge quite deliberately to tame all the wildness.
Take a closer look at this week’s design. The bunny tail grass bridges the gap between the dried straw basket and the fresh clematis vine. I am using both dried and fresh bunny tails. You will notice I scattered (or rather carefully glued in to look like it was scattered by a bird, maybe?) a few dried grasses the exact colour of the straw basket all around… and then strategically placed a few fresh bunny tails (that exactly match the purple colour of the clematis buds and the stems and even the fresh green of the stems- see the picture above) to be hydrated in the water below creating a “this is not quite done” nest design.
Same with the eggs… they eggsactly match the inside of the clematis flowers to tame the wildness just enough to ensure that it is mindfully designed.
Enjoy!
Every good wish,
Christine
