On my online workbook this week: Bud… bud… bud… they were feeling so… very blue

Dear

This week's inspiration is thinking it’s as simple as simply hating dyed flowers.

Turns out there is another upside to flowers that were conditioned in dye pigments so that they soak up the pigments and well… dye.

Apart from colouring the flowers to even the most unnatural hues… which is so far from my natural style as can be, I discovered something rather useful. When you condition flowers in the pigment it clogs the vascular system and the buds are less likely to fully open. It seems to suspend the flowers that are still in tight bud. Perfect for when you want to design with closed tight buds! Simply condition the flowers in water with a few drops of dye pigment (such as food colouring) that matches your flowers if you do not want to see the dye. Or you can add a tint to the petals, if you prefer.

For more information about conditioning flowers in a dye solution turn to page 71 of my book. And for more information about my book: The Effortless Floral Craftsman

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
