On my online workbook this week: And what are you supposed to be?

Dear

This week's inspiration is … my big fat too-early-for-autumn-designing, design excuse: if I want to make most of designing for Autumn I have to get an early start because Christmas season designing cuts into late Autumn designing. Makes perfect sense, right?

My tip for you this week is how to fix a grass stem that snaps at a sharp angle when you curve it.

When you curve grass you have to be so gentle, this delicate stem can snap so easily, spoiling the entire gentle curve you are trying to create. You can fix it in a snap though. Gently pinch the tiniest of little notches into the stem where you want to curve it to remove that one sharp angle. (see the pictures above) split open the sheath around the grass stem. You will find it around the lower part of the grass where you removed the leaves. If your grass stem no longer has one after you cleaned it for your design you will find a perfect sheath to use in your compost bin where you placed the leftovers and bits you cleaned away. Gently press your nail between the sheath and the grass stem to loosen it. Place the smallest bit of floral glue on the place where the stem snapped. Slip the sheath over the stem for support… and fixed! Not quite as good as new but fixed enough to still use in your display

Of course there is a slightly thicker “stem” now so insert the grass where it is less visible, for instance where a flower or stem hangs over that part but it continues to hydrate so you will not notice any difference in the curve only in the stem.

Oh!!! and before I forget... there are three new Tutorials for you to look at this week. You will find links to them below the design post. Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
