On my online workbook this week: Ahead

Dear

This week's inspiration is that thing where the days feel endless but the weeks simply fly by.

This week’s design is fun just as an undesigned-design. If you want you can simply place the design details and enjoy.

However, the best way to elevate the design is to add a few professional touches.

Be mindful of the proportions. Yes, the flower stems created a perfect space for the mummy fishbowl vase to rest on… but the fishbowl vase is just heavy enough to also hold the flowers in place. Simply lift the stems (with the stem ends remaining in the water below) if you want to add height to the design.

Or add width by letting the foliage collar dangle wider… or closer if you prefer that.

Adjust the length of the dangling collar foliage at the bottom. If you struggle to adjust the leaves, place the vase on an upturned drinking glass to lift it from the table to give it height and pull the leaves down towards the table to cut the already cut end shorter leaving the beautiful natural tips to drape and frame the design to the sides.

Inspect the foliage before starting to design. Any damaged edges will cause the corn leaf to rip against the elastic if you adjust it. So use any imperfect leaves for the mummy and only the most perfect leaves for the collar.

As a finishing touch: smooth the collar leaves out with a damp paper towel just before inserting them so that they are damp, flat and unruffled. This way they dry to conform around the shape of the vase and still dry naturally to add the curves and ruffles of dried leaves

Enjoy!

Every good wish,

Christine
